Cursive Day of the Dead Skeletons

As we wrap up Hispanic Heritage Month we learned about the Mexican tradition of the Day of the Dead. The tradition involves brightly decorated skills and skeletons placed in memory of loved ones lost. Today we made our own Day of the Dead Skeletons with a little twist.  We wrote our names in cursive to make each skeleton unique to us!

Sonia Sotomayor-Hispanic Heritage Month

Today we continued studying Hispanic Heritage Month by learning about Honorable Sonia Sotomayor. Afterwards we wrote down a number of important facts about her accomplishments in her life and career.

Studying Hispanic Heritage Month-Guillermo Gonzalez Camarena

During Social Studies we have been studying Hispanic Heritage Month. Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15th to October 15th. During this time we will be learning about influential people and cultural differences of a variety of Hispanic countries. Today we studied Guillermo Gonzalez Camarena, (February 17, 1917 – April 18, 1965), a Mexican electrical engineer who was the inventor of a color-wheel type of color television, and who also introduced color television to Mexico.

Celebarting the 200th Birthday of the Star Spangled Banner

In celebration of the Star Spangled Banner, we made a version of the American Flag that most represented us as a class. Each of us contributed to its creation by adding our handprint and painting portions of the stripes.
